My Place in the Downe Scene

I never really got to know any of the gay people that are [in]famously known all over the country and I hate it when people automatically assume that I would. I guess it’s a disadvantage at times, especially since i’m in this new up and coming boy band, and no one really knows about me.. but the thing this, I like it this way. Truth be told, if you were to hear my name, you’re not gonna automatically associate it with “______’s ex or _____’s old fuck buddy.. etc”. I wanna be known as the guy who’s in The Mighty or the guy that’s super passionate about his music, a talented individual. I don’t wanna be known for being gay, I wanna be known for my personality and my artistic traits rather than who I decide to share a partnership with. My work and craft comes first, then who i’m dating/who i’ve ever dated comes second. I’m not in the downe scene. I don’t have many gay friends. Not because i’m a bitch, but because I just never really got the chance to make any genuine ones. What sucks is that it’s somewhat hard for me to make and keep them. In my personal experience, it’s been difficult to make gay friends because they try holla before anything else, and so their true intentions come out. It’s flattering, but just dissapointing.

To be honest, I can do without the weekly visits to West Hollywood. I’ll survive without them. My idea of fun is getting to know people at their most raw. I love going on little adventures and random shenanigans with spontaneous people. Yeah, I love to party, don’t get me wrong. I’m probably known as the wild child of our band, but on the reals, I do have a tame/calmer/nerdy/homebody side that not many people see. I love surround myself with people that are creative, artistic, that love to celebrate life. I love to meet others that can delve deep and carry on intellectual conversations. People that can open up to me and tell me a thing or two that they have never told 2 other people. I love to talk about life. I hope that for as long as I live, I will always remember who I am and remember that the scene or whatever is not where i’m meant to be.

I remember being in high school and always seeing dancers and feeling like I wanted to be a part of the dance scene. Yet, I realized that singing was more me and I was happier doing that. So from that day forward I told myself and others that “I wanna make the music that those kids dance to.”

I’m exhausted. Ever since The Mighty started, my life has been non stop busy. But the odd thing is that I enjoy it. I love that I have something to fill my time with. And its something I love doing. Today I had a wedding to attend that i’ve actually been helping plan for the past year, and the night before I was actually partying it up in Glendale. I feel like every time I go out and meet new faces, it’s another opportunity to share The Mighty. But anywho, tomorrow me and Jonathan are planning to go to SD for his Culture Shock SD business. Long day ahead. I just wanna shower and knock tf out.
